[The camera comes down on the dome of the Principle Office. A hole irises open in the Pinnacle, allowing the camera to continue down into it. The camera comes down, spinning, to a hexagonal platform, in the center of which Dot and Phong are standing. The viewpoint swoops dizzyingly around them as the platform rises, then pulls back to show that the platform is now atop the Pinnacle. Dot and Phong are looking up into the sky.]
I'm gettin' dizzy[A buzzer sounds. The binome family are sitting on a park bench. The father is holding a Guardian bear doll out toward the baby, who is reaching for it. When they hear the System Voice, they look up. The baby nearly falls over as the doll moves out of reach.]
System Voice:
Attention, incoming file.
[Al's Waiter, asleep at the counter, awakens and looks up.]
System Voice:
Attention, incoming file.
[Old Man Pearson looks up and smiles.]
System Voice:
Attention, incoming file.
[The sky darkens and turns stormy grey, and the circuit pattern of the done flashes through the clouds. Then the sky turns gold.]
System Voice:
Attention, incoming file.
[The camera swoops down on Dot's diner. Frisket is lying in front of the doors.]
System Voice:
Attention, incoming file.
[Enzo bursts out of the Diner. Behind him, Cecil and several binomes look out. Frisket looks up at Enzo, then gets up.]
Enzo:
Upgrade city! C'mon, Frisket, you read what this means, don't'cha?
[Seen from Enzo's point of view, Frisket looks up and whines and wags his tail enthusiastically.
Enzo:
[continuing] Maybe I'll get that turbo speed energy upgrade I've been waiting for! Then I'll show Bob some real high density when the next game cube drops!
[Frisket, looking up, growls. Enzo looks up, then waves. Bob flies overhead. He pauses above the diner, waves at Enzo, then turns and flies toward the Principle Office. Glitch beeps. He raises his left arm. Dot is seen in Glitch's wheel.]
Dot:
Bob, where are you?
Bob:
Just a nano away. Had to mend a minor tear in Kits Sector.
[Bob looks up when he hears a noise. The golden sky is further brightened by fireworks. Dot and Phong are looking straight up at it.]
Phong:
[awed] Magnificent!
[A tunnel opens in the sky. Dot looks down at her organizer and puts a fist on her hip.] Watch the hands, buster!
Dot:
Well, you better hurry! The upgrade is already here!
[Dot looks up and around. Bob swoops into frame just behind her.]
Bob:
And so am I.
[Dot looks startled, then turns toward him.]
Bob:
[examining his fingernails smugly, then buffing them on his front] Perfect timing, as usual.
[Phong and Dot look at each other.]
Phong:
The file has arrived somewhat earlier than I had expected. [puts his hand to his chin thoughtfully]
[A white light emerges from the hole in the sky and zooms down like a comet toward the Pinnacle. It lands with a visible shock wave. Bob, Dot, and Phong take down their hands from their faces. In front of them is a large drumlike container. Bob startles.]
Bob:
That's it? That's the upgrade?
Dot:
This isn't the Supercomputer, Bob. [She looks at Phong and jerks her head toward Bob sarcastically.]
Phong:
The User sends what he can to make our world just a little better... usually.
[Dot lays her hands on the lid of the container, then rubs it as she speaks.]
Dot:
[enthusiastically] It's like opening a gift and finding a new data compression unit or a quantum business network maximizer or-
Phong:
[interrupting] Or better devices with which to fight the viral evil?
[Dot looks embarrassed. Bob leans into frame from the side again.]
Bob:
Just what you were thinking, I'm sure.
[Dot scowls at Bob as he gets out of frame again.] Live from sold-out Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas!
Phong:
We must hurry. We have very little time to install it. [announcing] Pinnacle descent!
[Seen from above, the Pinnacle lowers into the dome of the Principle Office. Inside it's all colorful and spotlights bobble about. Bob looks around.]
Bob:
Into the Core! The very heart of Mainframe. [He turns toward Phong.]
Phong:
Yes. And we must always ensure the greatest degree of safety.
Dot:
[pressing a button on her organizer] Not to worry, Phong. [to her organizer] Units two ninety-two, go to disperse format.
CPU:
[visible on her organizer screen] Copy.
[Dot taps twice on the screen, closing that image and opening one of the inside of the Diner. Enzo is facing a collection of binomes and a Five.]
Dot:
[surprised] Enzo?
[In the Diner, Enzo raises a fist.]
Enzo:
[shouting] Whadda we want?
Binomes & Five:
[shouting] Upgrades!
Enzo:
[shouting] When do we want 'em?
Binomes & Five:
[shouting] Now!
Dot:
[voiceover] Enzo!
[Enzo turns toward the viewpoint behind himself, which is assumedly a VidWindow.]
Enzo:
Hi! [raising a thumbs-up] Totally online here!
[Cecil comes into frame from the side.]
Cecil:
And maybe zis time I will get some legs!
[The scene is seen in the screen of Dot's organizer.]
Dot:
[amused] See you after powerdown.
[She taps the screen twice, closing that window. Behind it is a schematic of Mainframe and some scrolling binary data. The schematic is flashing green. Dot looks toward Phong.]
Dot:
All sectors clear.
Phong:
Thank you, child. Your work, as usual, is most efficient.
[The pinnacle comes to a stop with a bump. Phong's head bobbles, then he looks around. Bob walks up to the container.]
Bob:
[patting the lid] I'd like to see Megabyte even think about causin' trouble right now.
Phong:
Then let us begin. [announcing] Pinnacle windows!
[Above the Principle Office, six VidWindows showing Phong open, one facing each sector.]
Phong:
Attention, citizens of Mainframe.
[Al's Waiter and a number Eight watch the announcement on a VidWindow above the bar.]
Phong:
[continuing] Prepare for powerdown and upgrade. He looks kinda like a gilded chimp, doesn't he?
[The binome family is in Floating Point Park. The father points, drawing their attention to the giant VidWindows.]
Phong:
[continuing] I repeat, prepare for powerdown and upgrade.
[The mother and father glance at each other. The mother picks up the baby.]
[Back in the core.]
Phong:
[to Bob] Care to have the honor?
Bob:
Cool!
[A VidWindow showing Mainframe from above changes to show a green button on a yellow-and-black striped surface. The VidWindow turns toward Bob as he walks up to it. He taps twice on the button, causing it to change colors. Barriers come down in front of the Principle Office entrances. The bridges retract. Then a blue energy sphere expands to enclose it. The sky darkens to sunset colors and the sound of the city's energy lowers. The floating mobile beside Bob's apartment settles and the 8-ball stops spinning. The binary "monorail" above Wall Street flashes into static several times, then stops entirely.]
Phong:
[to Bob] Powerdown is complete. [rubbing his hands together] Now for the upgrade.
[Phong wheels over to the container and struggles to lift the lid off. He gasps. Dot grins and shrugs at Bob.]
Bob:
Here. Let me do that.
[Bob walks to the container, waves Phong away, then releases the clamps holding the lid on. He pulls hard on the lid as Phong speaks.]
Phong:
Ah, thank you, Bob. Those lids seem to get heavier with ev-
Bob:
UH! Well, he doesn't have a handle.
[Bob and the lid go flying into the air. Phong and Dot watch. We hear the crash as they land. Phong wheels to the container and raises his head to look down into it. Seen from inside, Megabyte's hand reaches up and grabs Phong's face. Phong screams as he is encased in green energy. Megabyte stands up out of the container, looking at Phong, who he is holding up in the air. Phong goes limp.]
Dot:
[shocked] Megabyte! Megabyte:[cordially] Hello, Dot! What an unexpected surprise.
[Dot, frightened, looks back at the lid, which is at the edge of the platform. Then she turns back to Megabyte.]
Dot:
[determinedly] Put him down!
[Dot tries to grab Phong, then draws back and shakes her hands when the energy shocks her.]
Megabyte:
Please, Ms. Matrix, I'm rather busy. I'm afraid right now I have to enter the Core.
Bob:
Afraid not!
[Bob tosses the lid like a giant discus at Megabyte. Megabyte catches it easily with his free hand. He drops Phong. The container walls lower so he can step out, then rise again so he can put the lid back in place. Dot kneels by Phong and cradles his head.]
Megabyte:
Bob. I should've known you would be here too.
Bob:
And I shoulda known you'd do something like create a fake upgrade!
Megabyte:
Quite the oversight for a Guardian, wouldn't you say?
[Megabyte picks up the container and holds it over his head, ready to throw. Bob makes an "effort noise," then turns away and points his arm up at an angle.]
Bob:
Glitch! Line!
[Glitch shoots a grapple, which attaches to the smooth inner surface of the wall. Bob reels himself toward it. Megabyte throws the container toward the grapple. It hits, releasing the grapple. Bob yells as he falls. He lands on something, then looks up and start yelling again as he slides backwards out of sight. Megabyte turns away from the edge and walks toward the camera.]
Megabyte:
Now, where were we?
[He picks Phong up by the neck. Phong rises his head and speaks as though he is struggling for each word.]
Phong:
[gasps] Cannot infect me... Virus!
Megabyte:
How true. But I can copy your read-only memory. [He puts his hand on the top of Phong's head and speaks slowly.] Give me the entry code. Warning, incoming catchphrase.
[There is a beeping, and Phong screams. His head flickers semitransparent, then glows green . The green glow goes to Megabyte, illuminating a brain like two hoagie loaves side by side. Megabyte tosses Phong away.]
Megabyte:
[triumphantly] The Core and Mainframe are mine! [He clenches a fist, then looks up and announces-] Pinnacle elite, Core control!
[The platform lowers. Bob, on another platform below the base of the Pinnacle, looks up at the descending sphere. The platform he is on splits into six pieces right below him. He hops onto one segment and looks down into the ominously green-glowing passage below.]
Bob:
This is bad. This is really bad!

[PLACE COMMERCIAL HERE]
[Seen from below, the sphere of the Pinnacle descends through the top of a dome into a much larger, green chamber. The camera comes up to the top of the Pinnacle, then the opening which has just closed over it. Bob is hanging from it.]
Bob:
[looking down] Megabyte in the Core? I don't think so!
[Seen from below, Megabyte looks up as he descends.] Lovely architecture.
Megabyte:
The Core control chamber.
[The Pinnacle stops descending. From the walls six parts of a platform swing in to meet with the platform already on top of the Pinnacle sphere.]
Megabyte:
[continuing] It's even more magnificent than I had imagined.
[Dot is still cradling Phong's head.. He moans in pain, and his head falls back.]
Dot:
I gotta do something. To warn them outside!
[Dot looks down at her organizer and taps it once.]

[Enzo is sitting at the counter of the Diner looking at five VidWindows that show various sectors.]
Enzo:
[annoyed] Bum circuit! Not a pixel changed! Whatta tear. [looks down]
[The image of a CPU binome standing outside the shielded Principle Office appears in the middle window.]
CPU:
Enzo!
[Enzo looks up.] Why is he reporting in to a kid?
CPU:
[continuing] Have you heard from Dot?
Enzo:
Not since powerdown. Hey, what's the tin skin still doin' up on the big ball?
[The CPU looks around uneasily. When he speaks, he gestures with his billy club, which bobbles weirdly as if made of rubber.]
CPU:
Oh, you mean the armor. [takes a greenscreen VidWindow from behind his back and taps on it with his club] We've just received a barely discernable distress signal from inside. [Puts the VidWindow behind his back] All other communications are impossible until the armor's down.
Enzo:
[excitedly] Random! I'll be right over! [He starts to get off the stool, then looks back when the CPU speaks.]
CPU:
No! I'm issuing a curfew to Mainframe until we've worked out the problem.
Enzo:
But-
CPU:
Just try to keep everyone calm.
[The CPU touches the side of his helmet. The image blinks out. Enzo stares for a second, then looks to the side. Cecil, the group of binomes, and number Five now look very nervous. They blink in unison.]

[Fade to Dot, who is still kneeling by Phong. Megabyte looks down on them.] Megabyte. Ah, I haven't felt this good since my first... infection. I'm gonna sneeze...
[Megabyte turns and places his hands on his hips. As he speaks, Phong and Dot appear to carry on an inaudible conversation in the background.]
Megabyte:
Now I shall erase Mainframe and rebuild it in my image! [announcing] Pinnacle elite - window!
[As the camera orbits around him, six VidWindows open one by one.]
Megabyte:
Ahh, Mainframe! All mine! All in my-
Bob:
[voiceover, interrupting] Mind!
[Megabyte's head jerks to the side. Bob swings on a line, feet first, and kicks Megabyte across the platform. Megabyte digs his claws in and stops himself just before falling over the edge. He looks down over his shoulder. Bob lands on his feet on the platform. Megabyte stands and begins to walk toward Bob.]
Megabyte:
Back for more, are we, Bob?
Bob:
Glitch! Electropulse!
[Bob lowers his arm. Glitch fires a rocketlike blast, sending Bob up and over Megabyte. He lands clumsily near the platform's edge, then stands and faces Megabyte.]
Megabyte:
If it's cat and mouse, Bob, maybe we need some cheese.
[Megabyte extends his fingernail claws, then turns and leaps at Dot and Phong with a snarl.]
Bob:
[pointing his arm] Glitch, uh... energy shield!
[Bob sights along his arm as Glitch's wheel tilts forward. It shoots a yellow glow at Dot and Phong. The glow forms a roughly cylindrical field around them. When Megabyte hits it it caves inward, then rebounds, ricocheting Megabyte headfirst toward Bob.] Homage to Tom & Jerry
Bob:
[holding his hands up protectively] Glitch! Anything!
[Before Bob even finishes the first word Glitch flies off his bracer. It forms a yellow pole. Seen from behind Bob, it becomes a lamppost. Megabyte crashes cartoonishly into it, then falls to the ground. Bob looks down, then leans against the pole.]
Bob:
[smugly] Like falling off an analog.
[Bob raises his left arm. Glitch resumes its usual shape and position on Bob's bracer. Bob looks up. Megabyte stands again. Bob raises his forearm.]
Bob:
Glitch! Elevator!
[Glitch's wheel flips up, then down again. Bob looks at it.]
Bob:
Glitch! Glitch? A diagram on the wheel shows its battery level sinking to empty and a blinking sad face.]
Bob:
Oh no!
[Hearing heavy footsteps, Bob looks up. Then he turns and runs. Megabyte jogs after him.]
[With sounds of effort Dot is dragging a green-lit Phong by his arms. She kneels by him and looks at him with an expression of dread.] Where's that green light coming from?
Phong:
[weakly] Dear child, leave me.
Dot:
I can't!
Phong:
[weakly] You must. To s-save yourself and Mainframe. I order you!
[Dot shakes her head unwillingly.]
Phong:
[weakly] Zip zip zoom.
[Phong gasps and his head falls back again.]
[Hearing the sound of something powering up, Dot looks over. Energy is flickering in a doorframe-like construction. Bob and Megabyte are running toward her. Without slowing Bob grabs Dot around the waist with one arm and runs into the portal.] That's not his throat, that's his neck!
Dot:
[yelling] Wh-
[The portal carries them to the other side.]
Dot:
[continuing her yell] -ooooa!
[Bob carries Dot through a door which just happens to be sliding closed. The camera rushes to Megabyte's face. His claws are splayed and his mouth is wide open in a hissing roar.]

[Bob is panting and leaning back against a large door with a yin-yang logo. Dot is holding onto a safelike wheel on the door.]
Bob:
Poor Phong! [kicks the door with his heel] We never shoulda left him there! But I'm Glitched out!
Dot:
Then we better find a recharge, fast!
[Dot runs off. After a moment of surprise, Bob follows her down a corridor lit by spinning lights.]

[In the Core, Megabyte is holding Phong up by his neck. He drops him again.]
Megabyte:
I'll deal with those Sprites later. Right now I have a city to destroy! [announcing] Command.com, initiate program: erase!

[The sky above Baudway darkens. Inside the Diner, the binomes rhubarb fearfully. Enzo sniffs.]
Enzo:
CPU! I don't like the smell of this!
[They all look up when they hear the System Voice.]
System Voice:
Warning, environment shutdown.
[The background sound lowers, like that of an electrical device powering down. After a beat, the binomes and Five scream. Megabyte watches them rush around in panic on three large VidWindows.]
Megabyte:
[laughs softly] Excellent.
[The view on all three VidWindows changes from a closeup to Touque's eyes to a corridor with spinning lights.]

[In a very similar corridor, Bob is looking around a corner while holding Dot back against the wall with his hand. He turns back to her and appears to be about to say something that will be edited out.]
[Megabyte is watching intently. His mouth closes as if he has just said something that was edited out.]
Megabyte:
You're in my court now, Sprites! Let's have some fun with this, shall we? [looks away] Initiate security section seven, [looks back] game mode!

Puck you
[A door slides down. A cluster of green-lit Pong pucks flies out and down the hallway, bleeping and bouncing off the walls as they go. As they pass intersections some go down the side halls. A device like a mechanized push broom wheels into the intersection, appears to see the pucks, and turns and flees. The pucks follow it. Down the hall, there is an explosion. The camera turns a corner, showing Bob and Dot were just on the other wall of a side corridor. Bob takes his hand down from in front of his eyes.]
Dot:
They look like game pucks from Phong's favorite game!
Bob:
Yeah! But they're energy seeking, and loaded with electromagnetic detonators!
[Bob looks down the corridor opposite theirs. Four pucks are approaching them. Bob points back down the corridor.]
Bob:
Quick! This way!
[Bob and Dot run away from the approaching pucks. They look back. Dot looks forward again, then stops running.]
Dot:
Bob! Look ahead!
[Bob does so, and sees pucks approaching from the opposite direction. Bob and Dot look back at the other set of pucks. Dot looks back at Bob with an expression of mild concern. Bob glances back and forth worriedly.]

[PLACE COMMERCIAL HERE]
[Pucks approach the camera, ricocheting off the walls.]
Bob:
[turning to Dot] Has your organizer got a jumper cable?
[Bob puts his hand out for it. Dot holds it to herself protectively.
Dot:
Yes, but if I lose power all my stored data is history!
[Bob glances back twice at the approaching pucks, then at Dot, with an alarmed expression. She glances over her shoulder at the pucks coming at her from behind, then hands Bob her organizer with a determined expression. Bob attaches it to Glitch and taps its screen. It maximizes and the screen lights up. The light disappears right to left and turns staticky as Glitch's wheel lights up.]
Bob:
[tapping the organizer] Glitch, doubleheader!
[Glitch encloses Bob and Dot in separate spheres of orange energy. They both yelp in surprise. Bob's sphere goes down and Bob's goes up, apparently passing through the floor and ceiling to do so. The pucks pass between them and crash into each other with a violent explosion.]

[Fade to the interior of Dot's Diner, which now looks quite dark and stormy. Cecil comes up to the camera.]
Cecil:
Zis is terrible. We will all be erased! Look, you are disappearing before my-
[Enzo, who is translucent, weakly reaches over and slaps Cecil on the side.]
Cecil:
Ah! Thanks. I needed zat.
Enzo:
[sounding exhausted] Just keep those energy shakes flowing. We've gotta keep pumpin' their levels up!
[The camera swings over to the booths, where Frisket and a number of binomes are. All are turning translucent as well. Frisket whines.]

[Megabyte is still in the core, in the middle of the six VidWindows, looking around. Hexadecimal, seated on her throne, appears in the VidWindow behind him. He jerks when he hears her speak.]
Hexadecimal:
Megabyte. [laughs] What a delightful mess you're making. [taps her claws together]
[Megabyte turns toward her.] Warning, incoming red herring.
Megabyte:
Thank you, Hex. I thought you'd enjoy it.
Hexadecimal:
Now you wouldn't be attempting to erase me, [leans forward threateningly] would you?
Megabyte:
Oh, come now. Would that be any way to treat... family?
Hexadecimal:
[smirking and speaking like Mistress Tantala] Now, let's discuss the deal, shall we?
[The camera pulls up, away from Megabyte, making him look small.]

[Enzo staggers to a booth with an energy shake. He hands it to a One binome.]
Enzo:
Bob, Dot, log on, willya?
[Enzo nearly falls over, then staggers and grabs onto the table. The ground shakes, sending some binomes tumbling out of the booths and back and forth on the floor.]

[Outside, the sector of Wall Street shakes. The window lights on a cylindrical tower go off, and it falls over. Other towers fall. The clear tube holding up the 8 ball of Bob's apartment tilts and the ball falls off and rolls away.]

[Hexadecimal rubs her fingertips together, then snaps them soundlessly, changing expression from a smirk to a smile as she does.]
Hexadecimal:
Then I've made it quite clear, love.
Megabyte:
[examining his fingernails] Yes, Hex, certainly, fifty-fifty control. [looking up at her grimly] I promise, all right?
Hexadecimal:
I'll be watching you.
[The VidWindow viewpoint pulls back. Skuzzy hops onto Hexadecimal's chair. The VidWindow closes.]
Megabyte:
Watch closely, Hex. Mainframe will be erased [whips around to face the camera and clenches his fist dramatically] then remade in *my image!*
[The camera comes in on a thick, safelike door labeled "MAINFRAME ARMORY." It is opening, and Dot is walking into the darkened room.]
Dot:
The armory room! If I could only find a light switch around here somewhere... [sees the glowing lightbulb shape right by the door where anyone would expect a light switch to be] What's this?
[She taps the icon. The light comes on. She shields her eyes with her hand for a few seconds, then gasps. She is facing something big and mechanical with one visible grasping hand.]

Sylvia Plath was here[The camera comes down, past the statue of a desk lamp titled "JL SENIOR", to the open doorway of the Read-Only Room. It goes through. Inside, Bob is at the table-like VidWindow, which is displaying a cloudlike mottled blue.]
Bob:
[to the VidWindow] Scan for recharge nodes.
VidWindow:
[brightening as it speaks] Proccessing request.
[A light appears to one side. Bob looks over. A VidWindow showing red static is opening beside the table-like window. A device like a tall bell jar floating above a metal crescent comes out of it, and the VidWindow closes again. It stops over the table-like VidWindow. Half of the dome revolves around inside the other half, revealing the interior.]
Bob:
All right!
[Bob places Glitch inside the bell jar, where it floats. The jar closes again and the glow brightens as Glitch is bathed in Energy. Bob watches intently, squinting against the light. Then a glowing green hand with chopstick-like fingers clamps on his shoulder. Alarmed at first, he looks back, and sees a flickering, staticky green hologram of Phong.] There's a time to be cryptic and a time to give straight answers, Phong. Guess which one this is?
Bob:
Phong! Is that you?
Phong:
[weakly] You have what you need. Now use his greed.
Bob:
What?
Phong:
[weakly] Use his greed, his greed!
[Phong gasps and collapses, keeling over theatrically for the third time.]
Bob:
Phong!
[Bob tries to catch the hologram, which disappears. Bob slumps forward sadly. Then he straightens up and poses determinedly as the camera comes up to his dramatic scowl.]

[Megabyte picks Phong roughly up by the neck yet again.]
Megabyte:
Digits off, old Sprite. This is my domain now. Thought I must say you Sprites certainly fight bravely, right to the bittersweet end.

[In the Diner, it is now very dark and stormy indeed. The binomes - visible mostly as glowing, distorted eyes in the darkness - are whimpering and suffering. Frisket is transparent except for the spheres of his eyeballs. Enzo is slumped forward on the counter.]
Enzo:
[sounding exhausted] Come on! [picks up a small VidWindow] Display yourself, you megajerk! Let's see your ugly typeface! I need some slow food fast!
[The VidWindow jerks out of his hands with a pwing, enlarges, displaying Megabyte.]
Megabyte:
Enzo. You're looking a little pale. Dear me, have you run out of energy shakes?
Enzo:
Listen, tin butt, either you quicktime reverse this program, or I'll-
Megabyte:
Or you'll what? I'm afraid even your friends can't save you now. [chuckles]
[Something large and mechanical steps loudly into frame behind Megabyte. He startles. It taps him on the shoulder.]
Dot:
Excuse me?
Megabyte:
[surprised] Eh - Dot?
[Megabyte looks around. The viewpoint switches so now Enzo is seen through Megabyte's VidWindow. Enzo grins. Megabyte gapes as he looks up and sees Dot, who is in some sort of machine.]
Dot:
[smugly] The new and improved!
[The camera pulls back to show the exoskeleton Dot is wearing. It towers above Megabyte. She swings a clamp arm. Megabyte ducks to avoid it. She swings it back, slamming him away. Then she turns to speak to Enzo.] Let the buttkicking commence!
Dot:
Hang in there, little brother!
[The exoskeleton stomps toward Megabyte, who is lying at the platform's edge. One foot comes down right where his legs would have been if he hadn't jerked them back.]
Megabyte:
[calmly] An exoskeleton suit! How... amusing.
[Dot glares down at him. She bends forward, grabs a piece of metal with the clamp, then jerks on it, sending Megabyte flying. He lands on a thin bridge and stops his skid with his hands. He looks down, and sees a fragment of something fall into the green light below and flare like an insect on a bug zapper. The strut vibrates in time with the footsteps of the exosuit. Megabyte looks back and sees Dot approaching. She grins nastily at him. Seen from above, she walks on the bridge, which is barely wide enough for the exoskeleton, up to Megabyte. One foot comes down on Megabyte, trying to crush him. He holds it back with his hands. There is a sound of metal bending. The green of Megabyte's eyes darkens to black. Then his eyes widen again and he growls and shoves the foot up. The entire exoskeleton begins to topple to the side.]
Dot:
Whoaaaa!
[The suit topples off the bridge. Then, a few seconds later, its hand grabs the bridge. It is hanging over the Core by one hand, with Dot helpless in the middle. Seen from below, Megabyte stands and extends his knuckle claws. He aims them down at Dot. She shakes her head and gapes cartoonishly. He draws back to attack the exoskeleton's hand. Before he can a gold beam catches him, suspending and paralyzing him. The beam is coming from Glitch.]
Megabyte:
Ah!
Bob:
Back! And fully charged. Dot! Love your new outfit.
[Dot, who has somehow gotten back onto the platform, grabs Megabyte with the clamp and raises him to eye level. Megabyte looks dazed.]
Dot:
I've got him! Just reverse that program!
Bob:
Uh... okay! [releases the golden beam] Tactical error
Megabyte:
Who has whom, Ms. Matrix?
[Megabyte grasps the clamp. Blue spreads outward from his hands as he infects the machine.]
Bob:
[speaking into Glitch] Command.com stabilize, prepare for reversal of erasure progra-
[Bob is cut off as the exoskeleton's hand seizes him. It lifts him up to Dot's level. Megabyte is standing in front of the exoskeleton. Bob and Dot both struggle futilely.]
Megabyte:
She's under my control now, Bob. I'll call her off if you give me what I want - a portal to the Supercomputer!
Dot:
Sorry, Bob, I can't control myself!
[Bob turns away from Dot to speak to the camera.]
Bob:
Funny, I've always known that.
[Dot glares at Bob.]
Megabyte:
[pointing] I want that portal, Bob! I have other methods.
[Megabyte looks back at the clamp and raises a hand, mimicking it. The clamp swings around to enclose Bob's head between its sides, then begins to close.]
Bob:
[yelling] All right!
[The clamp stops closing.]
Bob:
I'll give it to you.

[Fade out, then in again on the platform. Bob is now out of the infected exoskeleton's grip; Dot is still in place. A geometrical shape rises out of the center of the platform as the camera orbits the tableau. The facet in front of Megabyte, which is clear, opens. Inside is a portal sphere showing the Supercomputer.]
Megabyte:
[enthralled] It's... beautiful. I must see it! Now! [raising a clenched fist] To get a glimpse of my *glorious* future! [to Dot] Hold him!
[The exoskeleton's hand grasps Bob and raises him off the ground. Megabyte walks up the platform steps to the enclosure, then up the steps inside toward the portal. Bob points his left arm forward.]
Bob:
Glitch! Arm! Where's the big clock tower?
[Glitch's wheel flies onto the open door and flashes. The door slams shut and the portal disappears as Megabyte looks back. Then he looks down as something appears below his feet. He looks up at the matching things in the ceiling of the enclosure.]
Megabyte:
You can't be serious, Bob. Lock me in a portal room?
Bob:
Not exactly. This is where the Principle Office breaks down Viruses!
[Bob presses on the ends of Glitch's rod. A control panel appears on the box. He presses two buttons. An antivirus symbol appears on one side of the chamber as an alarm buzzes. Rays between the floor and ceiling devices catch Megabyte and hold him suspended within the chamber.]
Megabyte:
Ah!
[With sounds of effort he seems to struggle, but can do no more than move his arms and hands slightly. The blue fades from the exoskeleton as Dot puts Bob down.]
Bob:
You've been caught by your own greed, Megabyte!
Megabyte:
[nastily] As you wish. If I go, I take Mainframe and all of you with me! Disturbing imagery
[He holds his left arm up front of himself. He touches a forearm panel, which opens. Then he taps three buttons inside it. Seen from outside, he turns black, the only visible features the marks on his torso. Light begins erupting from his body. The area starts shaking as if in an earthquake. Dot and Bob, watching, hold their hands up protectively. Megabyte turns marble-like white and the light coming from him becomes green.]
Bob:
[yelling] He's triggered a self-destruct program! [Shatnering] Must eject or he'll destroy us all!
[Bob turns Glitch's wheel, then presses it with three fingers. It turns red. The portal room shoots straight up. The top of the Core dome snaps opens for it. It flies out the top of the Principle Office, high into the darkened sky.]
System Voice:
Attention, incoming file.
[The portal chamber land lands right by the Tor. The door opens as the sky turns golden.
System Voice:
Attention. Attention, incoming file.
[Megabyte's hand grasps the frame of the door.]
[Seen from above Mainframe, the sky is golden. One of the towers that has fallen rises back into place.]
System Voice:
Attention, incoming file. Attention, incoming file.
Weirdest pinstripe suit ever [Dot is still wearing the circuit-pattern exoskeleton jumpsuit, though she is not in the exoskeleton. She and Bob are looking up into the sky. Phong wheels unsteadily into frame behind them. They turn to look at him.]
System Voice:
Attention, incoming file. Attention, incoming file.
[Bob and Dot gape in open-mouthed surprise at Phong.]
Bob:
Phong!
Phong:
[weaving about unsteadily] Hmm! Maybe this time I will get a new... modem!
[Bob and Dot laugh as Phong continues weaving about and a "that's the punchline" musical sting plays.]
